ATS modifies and upgrades the 68-RFE pump to allow pressures up to 300 and up psi. The factory pump uses the cast aluminum to serve as the high pressure pump gear support bushing and the two idler gear support bushings, the reality is using the aluminum as a bushing at pressures above stock (160 PSI) is unreliable and the pump gear and housing fails prematurely.
