Clutch Cable
A clutch cable is used to connect your clutch pedal to the shift fork, so the latter can cause the release bearing to disengage the clutch from the flywheel. If the clutch cable malfunctions or fails, your clutch pedal may get stuck in its lowest position or it can be hard to press the pedal.
Clutch cable replacement and maintenance
- Your clutch cable must be properly adjusted to ensure smooth and easy clutch pedal operation.
- If your vehicle does not have a clutch cable, it may be equipped with a hydraulic system or mechanical linkage. Both of them perform the same function.
- Bad driving habits, like resting a foot on the clutch pedal or not releasing the pedal completely, as well as incorrect cable adjusting can shorten the service life of a clutch.
