A cylinder head is located on the top of the engine block, forming the combustion chamber and housing the camshaft, intake/exhaust valves and spark plugs.


Signs of a bad cylinder head

  • Engine overheating
  • Misfiring
  • Increased oil consumption

Cylinder head repair and maintenance

  • The mounting surface of the cylinder head should be inspected for damage when installing a new head gasket
  • You should follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to prevent damage to the cylinder head when replacing spark plugs.
