Diesel Fuel Injector
A diesel fuel injector is a computer-operated valve with a built-in nozzle that sprays a precise amount of pressurized fuel into the combustion chamber.
Signs of a failing diesel fuel injector
- The check engine light comes on
- Poor engine performance
- Increased fuel consumption due to fuel leaks
Diesel fuel injector maintenance
- Diesel fuel is injected under very high pressure created by a special high-pressure fuel pump. Its failure to function may result in improper engine operation.
- Problems caused by dirty filters, worn-out plugs, incorrect timing, and a failed fuel pump may be misinterpreted as signs of bad fuel injectors. Make sure the root of the problem is a fuel injector before its replacement.
