Air Pump Check Valve

Air Pump Check Valve

An air pump check valve serves to keep exhaust gases from forcing against the air pump, while allowing air from the pump to enter the exhaust system. A faulty air pump check valve will lead to a failed emissions test and an illuminated check engine light.

Air pump check troubleshooting and replacement

  • V-type engines come with two air pump check valves. We recommend you to replace both of them at the same time even if the only one is faulty. This will allow you to avoid possible problems and unplanned expenses in the nearest future.
  • A bad air pump check valve is not the only source of emissions system problems. Similar symptoms can be caused by a bad air pump, a leaking horse or bad wiring.
