Canister Purge Valve
The canister purge valve is mounted into a containment canister to prevent stored fuel vapors from damaging the canister, while redirecting them into the combustion chamber. A bad canister purge valve can lead to rough idling and cause the check engine light to come on.

Canister purge valve troubleshooting
- An evaporative system is very difficult to diagnose because trouble codes are usually triggered by not related sensors and components. That’s why this should be left to a professional.
- Bits of charcoal inside the canister can cause the purge valve to stick in the closed or open position.
