EGR Cooler
An EGR cooler, which is short for exhaust gas recirculation cooler, is a crucial part of a vehicle’s exhaust gas recirculation system. Its job is to cool down exhaust gases before a small amount of them returns to the combustion chamber. Depending on the design of the cooler, engine coolant or air can be used to lower the temperature of exhaust gases.
If your EGR cooler is getting failed, you’ll experience a number of warning symptoms, including an illuminated check engine light, coolant leaks, smoke due to burning coolant and increased emissions.
Exhaust gas recirculation cooler replacement
- A thorough diagnosis of the exhaust gas recirculation system is recommended before replacing the EGR cooler.
