Gaskets
A gasket is a mechanical seal that is used to fill the space or gap between two objects to ensure a leak-free joint. Depending on the surfaces it seals, a faulty gasket can lead to a fluid, exhaust gas or engine vacuum leak.
Gasket troubleshooting and replacement
- The sealing surfaces must be inspected and resurfaced if necessary, when a gasket is replaced.
- You should be certain sure the sealing surfaces are clean before installing a new gasket.
- Depending on the objects that are sealed, a gasket sealer or another sealing compound can be required.
