Intake Manifold Gasket

Intake Manifold Gasket

An intake manifold gasket is a mechanical seal that fits between an intake manifold and a cylinder head, and serves to prevent any kind of leaks. Its failure will lead to erratic idling, coolant and/or oil leaks, and cause the check engine light to come on.

Intake manifold gasket replacement

  • Many newer vehicles come with a high-grade plastic air intake manifold. Such vehicles require a specific type of gaskets.
  • Nine out of ten intake manifold leaks can be fixed by replacing the gasket. However, if the air intake manifold is damaged, it must be replaced.
  • Some vehicles have two intake manifold gaskets. As a rule, the lower one is a source of most fluid leaks.
